Advanced Link Building Guide (Part I)

Link Building has evolved in recent years along with SEO and positioning factors in Google.

It is increasingly difficult to manipulate the positioning of a website through SEO tricks.

Many years ago, when Google’s algorithm was still in its infancy, getting a good positioning was as simple as getting inbound links or backlinks from spam sites, forums, blog comments, directories … The more links pointed to your website, the more visibility you had.

Today only links from reliable websites with good domain authority are useful.

However, this is not the only positioning factor to take into account, as the user response and usability of your website are becoming more and more important.

In other words, the algorithm tends to have the positioning defined by the value that provides that page to the user and not so much by external factors that in the end can be manipulated in one way or another.

So… is it still important to get backlinks and do Link Building in 2019??

The answer is yes. Links are still a very powerful positioning factor and it will be very difficult to compete with other websites for certain keywords, if those websites have more and better backlinks.

You have to understand that links act as votes and recommendations on the Internet.

Every time a page links to another, what it is saying is “this content is very good for this subject, I recommend it”.

If a page adds a lot of value, it seems logical to think that you will receive a lot of links from other quality websites.

Link Building is a factor that has lost weight in recent years with the emergence of new positioning factors that Google takes into account.

Everything indicates that it will be less and less manipulable and “determinant”.

However, it is still a very important positioning factor and you have to work on it if you want to improve the positioning of your website or online store.

  6. Conclusion

A lot has been written about how to get links and which ones are the best.

Is it better to link from a university or from a newspaper? Is it better from a site with a high domain authority or from a website with a lot of social media activity?

The reality is that there is no single type of backlink that is better than the others.

If this were the case, we would go back to the years when it was easy to fool Google, since the only thing we would have to do would be to get a good amount of links of that type and point them towards your website, or directly buy links.

Nowadays if you do it, the only thing you will possibly get is a significant penalty.

If you follow the same pattern when getting links, Google will recognize that pattern and realize that it is not natural and that you try to manipulate the positioning of your website. The result, as we said before, is a penalty.

In any case, when it comes to getting links, you should always try to get them from websites of authority and quality.

Links from websites not related to our theme and of poor quality, will not benefit the positioning of your page.

We have already said that for SEO, the link building is important, but that it has to be done well and with care.

But that doesn’t mean that by trying to get links to your website you put yourself in Google’s spotlight and put your visibility at risk.

As a general rule, if you don’t get links in an obviously fraudulent way -getting thousands of links from one day to the next, from websites with completely different themes or located in distant countries-, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Below we will review some recommended practices so that when doing in 2019 Link Building do not go against the guidelines and terms of service of Google

When it comes to getting links, they should look as natural as possible.

If in two months you don’t get any links and in a week you get 100, that won’t seem very natural.
If you only get links from universities or from very specific pages, the same thing will happen to you.

This type of link pattern can cause your website to be penalized and traffic to be drastically reduced.

To know if your website has been penalized by Google or to know the SEO status of your website it is necessary to carry out an SEO Audit.

Try to get links constantly, consistently and from very diverse sources, with a good distribution of non-follow and do-follow links.

To do it correctly, you’ll have to be organized and plan your Linkbuilding strategy. “The goal is not to make your links look natural”.
