Undoubtedly Twitter has become one of the most used social networks along with Facebook, thanks to its ease of dissemination.

Nowadays, having Twitter is essential to create a personal brand, to publicize your blog or your business.

There are some things that are not recommended to do on twitter, if we want to attract followers, not lose them, specifically I will list up to 12 things you should never do on twitter.

1. Abuse the hashtag

It’s good to use them, but don’t abuse them, use them moderately, with one or two is enough for tweet, putting many ht in the same tweet can be considered SPAM.

2. Mention without telling the story

It is a common thing in twitter, but it doesn’t make sense to do it when it’s not necessary, you only have to mention another user when it’s necessary.

I do it when I share an article of another author, so that this author knows I’ve shared his content and in this way get a thank you for your part in the form of mention, like or answer.

With this plugin you can tweet old publications, I use it myself, specifically 4 daily tweets are published, but not at the same time, it is not recommended to abuse this plugin and similar, publishing old publications every hour in block of 4 or more.

On the other hand it is not convenient to program all the content of your account, only program when you can not publish your directly.

Abuse of programmed tweets can give bot image to your twitter account something that is not good at all.

It is also not recommended to send direct messages automatically as a welcome, with invitations to other networks or SPAM.

4. Retweet too much

It is not good to constantly retweet, only when necessary and in moderation, do not do many RT in a row. It is better to combine RT and tweets of your own.

5. Tweeting without images or videos

It can be done, but to have more reach is recommended to use images and videos, plus some emoticon. A tweet with only text and a HT can have reach, but with an image you are guaranteed to have more visibility.

In short do not make a tweet only with text, as a minimum use emoticons but if you use an image, better.

6. SPAM your blog

This is very obvious, we can have a twitter of our blog, but we can not always be doing “auto flatter“, we must share related content from other blogs on the subject, not to turn your account into pure SPAM

7. Do not follow anyone

8. Ask to be followed

9. Overuse of links

10. Don’t steal tweets

11. Answer tweets

Respond only to the tweets strictly necessary, do not fill the timeline of other users with meaningless and unnecessary answers.

12. Don’t use trending topics for the sake of it

You’ve used a hashtag and you’ve done very well, because tweeting with the hashtag #DonaldTrump being this Trending Topic can help you gain a lot of followers but… do you really address the people you’re interested in?

Confusing users with your content is one of the biggest mistakes made on Twitter and although using a hashtag is always a good idea to know which to use when segmenting is paramount.
