TikTok Tricks (Part II)

In the previous post I spoke about:

  1. Upload previously recorded videos.
  2. Upload and edit several videos from your gallery.
  3. Create a slideshow video.
  4. Do a duet with another user.
  5. Create a reaction video.
  6. You can also do lip sync.

7. Choose the songs used by someone else

When you’re watching someone else’s video on TikTok, you’ll always have a reference to know what music they might be using both in the background and to make their lip sync, and you’ll have an easy way to use that same song to make a video out of it.

  • When you’re watching someone’s video, at the bottom right appears a round icon with the music that plays
  • When you click on it, you will go to the tab of the song and you will see all the videos that use it.
  • Simply click on the camera icon that appears in this preview, and you can start recording your own video with this music track.

8. Download the videos that are published

One of the peculiarities of this social network is that it is much easier than others to download videos uploaded by other users. However, in order to do so you will need to have uploaded at least one video and you will be able to start seeing these possibilities in the sharing menu.

  • When you are watching someone’s video, click the Share button in the options column on the right.
  • In the options that will appear, search and click on Save video, and it will be downloaded to your mobile.
  • If you don’t see that option, click Share -> Email, and it will save the video and allow you to send it to you by messenger, by mail, or directly save it to cloud applications such as Google Drive.

9. Prevent others from finding your account

TikTok is a social network that will suggest users to follow, either because they are among your contacts or by affinity. However, you can also configure it so that your account is not suggested to anyone at any time.

  • When you open the application, enter your profile.
  • Now click on the three-point icon at the top right to enter the settings.
  • Once inside the settings, click on the Privacy Settings option.
  • Now, uncheck the Allow others to find me option.

10. Make your account private

Another of the most interesting privacy options you have at your disposal is to be able to make your account private. By doing so, users who access your profile won’t be able to view your videos unless you’ve added them to your friends list.

  • When you open the application, log in to your profile.
  • Now click on the three-dot icon at the top right to enter the settings.
  • Once inside the settings, click on the Privacy Settings option.
  • Now, activate the Private Account option.

11. Manage who can interact with you

TikTok also has several other privacy options, which allow you to manage who can send you private messages, leave comments on your videos, react to them, or duet with you. All this is configured from the same section, the same one we have been using for the previous two points.

  • When you open the application, enter your profile.
  • Now click on the three-point icon at the top right to enter the settings.
  • Once inside the settings, click on the Privacy Settings option.
  • Click on Who can send me comments, Who can react to my videos, Who can duet with me or Who can send me messages.
  • In any of these cases, you will be able to choose between All, Friends, or Deactivated.

12. Get the most out of saving content to favorites

A song that is being used in a video, a particular hashtag you find in searches, or a video that you especially liked. You can bookmark all of this so you always have it at hand. Then, when you enter your profile you can enter the list of favorites to quickly find what you’re looking for.

I found this feature especially interesting for music, since one of the differences between TikTok and other social networks is precisely its catalogue of licensed songs that you can use in your videos. Bookmarking them when you look for music on purpose or find it by chance can help you a lot a posteriori.

13. Delete any video you’ve uploaded

We all make mistakes, and it’s possible that a video that initially seemed like a good idea will end up being considered unnecessary. That’s why, as it couldn’t be otherwise, TikTok allows you to manage them all and delete them in case you decide to do it.

  • Go to your profile.
  • Click on the video you want to delete.
  • In the options on the right, click on the icon of the three dots.
  • Choose the option Delete.

14. Record without having to hold down the record button

Generally, to make videos in TikTok you have to keep your finger pressed on the record button, so that when you release the recording will stop so you can make a different shot. Well, it doesn’t always have to be that way, and you can also start an automatic recording for hands-free recording.

  • Open the application and press the + icon to create a new video.
  • In the options on the right, click on the clock icon.
  • When you click on it you will go to the countdown option.
  • Here, in the time bar choose how long you want the video to last, and then click on Start countdown.
  • A countdown will start, and then it will start recording automatically for the time you have set.
