Facebook is upgrading messenger with a brand new attribute: you will be able to quote and respond to specific messages. It makes it easier to follow conversations (Particularly in bigger group chats)
The attribute comes as a growth of their business’s existing response emoji.
When you make a prolonged tap on a message, along with just adding a response, you will have the ability to respond with a brand new”answer” button.
The messages that are quoted are not very their particular message threads — they will still look in accord with the remainder of the conversation.
It is a fairly simple feature that WhatsApp has offered for a little while, so it is reasonable that Facebook would deliver it into Messenger.
The transfer also brings back to mind to the organization’s overarching ambition to make a cross-platform system which would unite Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram messaging — attaining comparable attributes on all 3 platforms will undoubtedly create that ultimate blending simpler as it will come across.
Chat conversations don’t always happen in real time, but exchanges are often “complicated”.
Questions accumulate and then the other person responds as well as they can and not always in order, leading to confusion.
Facebook Messenger now follows in the footsteps of other apps such as WhatsApp or Telegram, adding the answers to messages.
These are especially useful in groups with several people, although they also help clear up misunderstandings in private conversations.
Two ways to respond, same result
If you’re already used to WhatsApp’s answers, Facebook Messenger’s answers aren’t going to be the least complication because they’re basically the same.
One way to reply to a message is to slide it to the opposite side until the reply icon is displayed. It’s usually sliding to the right, although if you want to reply to your message, it’s sliding to the left.
If you’re not in the mood for slippage, you can do exactly the same thing with a prolonged tap on the message you want to reply to. In addition to the reaction icons, to the right of these is the reply button.
Otherwise, all that’s left is to write the reply itself as a normal, ordinary message. You can add emojis, photos, voice clips or anything else, just like a normal message.
The difference is that the reply to the original message is displayed superimposed, plus a small text indicating that you are replying to a certain message. If you tap on the preview of the text it’s responding to, the chat returns to that part of the conversation.
